Monday, September 5, UAW Local 218 and the Tarrant County Central Labor Council co-sponsored a gathering of local unions to reflect on the past and remember why we have Labor Day. Unions are the reason why we have Labor Day, but that is not the only reason why we came together. It was a time for us to get acquainted with seasoned elected officials and potential elected officials. The messages provided by some of the speakers were messages of hope for Hurricane Harvey Victims and some were about how they could make a difference in state and national campaigns.

Some of the speakers in attendance were Tefere Gebre - Exec. Vice President of AFL-CIO, John Patrick – President of Texas AFL-CIO,   Rick Levy – Secretary/Treasurer of Texas AFL-CIO, Brian Dalton- President of Tarrant County Central Labor Council, Mark York – Secretary/ Treasurer of Dallas AFL-CIO, U.S. Congressman Marc Veasey District 33, Texas House of Representative Chris Turner District 101, and a host a potential elected officials.

There were also a host of vendors and activities for people of all ages. IBEW LU 220 gave out free t-shirt to all IBEW local union members that attended the event.
