Tri-County Electric Cooperative Workers Vote to Unionize with IBEW Local 220
In May 2026, linemen and field workers at the Azle-based Tri-County Electric Cooperative (TCEC) officially voted to unionize with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 220.
The organizing effort, representing more than 80 workers, marks a major step forward for employees seeking a stronger voice on the job and greater unity in the workplace. After filing a petition in mid-April 2026, workers successfully secured union representation through IBEW Local 220.
The victory reflects growing momentum among utility and electrical workers across Texas and the country who are organizing for fair treatment, stronger workplace protections, and a seat at the table when decisions impacting their jobs are made.
Linemen and field employees play a critical role in maintaining reliable electrical service for communities throughout the region, often working in dangerous conditions and responding during severe weather and emergency outages. By joining together through the union, workers are building collective strength to advocate for the issues that matter most to them and their families.
IBEW Local 220 represents electrical workers across Texas and has a long history of fighting for safe working conditions, fair wages, quality benefits, and respect on the job.
This successful organizing campaign at TCEC demonstrates the power of solidarity and the continued importance of unions in the utility industry.
Congratulations to the workers at Tri-County Electric Cooperative on this historic achievement.
